The Best of the Best ...and the Rest :-\ - Summer 2007

Let's get down to business.

The Best
(not in any particular order)

SPIDERMAN 3: Loaded with action, humor and warmth, should have been more edgy for being the final chapter in a huge trilogy but good nonetheless, forget the haters.

Waitress: As sweet as pie and hilarious to boot. Wonderful performances, a gritty enough plot and a never to be forgotten director, RIP.

Knocked Up: The first dose of comedy from Judd Apatow this summer, a really funny movie with a good plot, tugs at your heart while still getting at the funny bone.

1408: A real mind trip. Cusack turns in another good performance. Might be too confusing for some but it was the perfect thriller for a summer with so little thrills.

Ratatouille: Not Pixar's best but still great graphics, cool setting and loveable characters.

harry 5: Simply the best yet of the series. Very dark, amazing director, and an unforgettably bitchy and juicy performance from Imelda Staunton.

hairspray: Came at the perfect time with the perfect cast. Some parts dragged esp when songs weren't powerful enough but left you dancing by the end. Pure summer fluff.

STARDUST: The BEST of the summer. Simply the whole package- Action, Horror, Drama, Romance, Comedy. And Michelle Pfiefer makes it all worth while as the most bad ass Witch since Angelica Houston in Witches so manyyyyy years ago.

superbad: The second dose of comedy from Judd Apatow. The best teen movie in years and like American Pie, manages to put both love and super sexual humor on balance. Michael Cera is a star.

honorable mentions:
28 weeks later: A really good sequel, a little over the top in the gore department.
Once: Slow but really sweet and original. Some fine music.

should have been better but not bad:
Hostel 2, Oceans 13 and Transformers.

The Poop
Pirates 3: Saved from being worse than part 2 with an ending that was good, but the first two hours of crap were unbearable.
