Bridge to Terabithia
(8.5/10)
I've been a fan of both the lead kid actors in this movie since their respectable earlier debuts. Josh Hutcherson made a name for himself with the rarely seen but notably memorable LITTLE MANHATTAN and AnnaSophia Robb was unforgettable as the vicious Violet in CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY. Now though at first I found it hard to believe that the two best looking kids in the school happend to be the "losers" I soon got over that. Bridge to Terabithia is a magical story of imagination about two outcasts who find themselves in a safe haven of escape that they may have a hard time ever getting out of. The filmmakers do a good job of leaving the audience somewhat confused as to what is real and what is fantasy at first. I can't go into much else of the story without revealing a tragic turn that the film takes near the end. But its a turn that makes it shine even more so. My friend and I didn't know what to expect going in and we ended up crying our eyes out. (Which is a rarity for me. I mean RARE!) This is a film for the ages, but again be forewarned, it's not all that easy to swallow.
