My must see movies of the summer
1. Spiderman 3- Well here we are at the end of a trilogy. From what the trailers show it should be amazing and I'm pumped! (May 4)
2. Knocked Up- This is going to be so funny. After the success of '40 y.o virgin', I really like the cast and am looking forward to it as the comedy of the summer.(June 1)
3. Ratatouille- Has Disney/Pixar ever failed to amuse?(June 29)
4. Pirates 3- Although Pirates 2 was a big let down for me- this looks fantastic. Plus I'll be in Disney World when it opens!(May 25th)
5. Harry Potter 5- Same old, same old but some good!(July 13)
6. Shrek 3- Always fun. Let's hope the magic is still there. The sequel grew on me.(May 18)
7. 28 Weeks Later- The first one really blew me away a few summers ago and I'm hoping this is a good scare fest!(May 11)
8. Transformers- This looks freakin awesome and I'm a new Shia fan.(July 4)
9. StarDust- The next big epic classic! Or...the next big all-star BOMB. Lets hope it's the first thing I said.(August 10)
10. Hostel Part 2- I loved the original, I really found something in it that not many people got but I hope the sequel is well done.(June 8)
11. HALLOWEEN- I'm not excited, but it is a MUST SEE because I have to see if Rob Zombie did the original justice!(Aug 31)
12. I Know Who Killed Me- My little Lindsay in her first thriller? Woot! Do me proud!(July 27)
13. The Invasion- Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craigs long delayed sci-fi thriller- I'm iffy about this one...but I mean hello! Nicole + Aliens = I'm there!(August 17)
Notables: Hairspray, Bourne Ultimatum, Waitress, Georgia Rule, Fantasic 4 Part 2, License to Wed
So many sequels...so little time.
Where is Oceans 13 Devin, you ask? WELL I HATED OCEANS TWELVE- I need some real good reviews and buzz to get my ass back in the theatre for this one, sorry. And no Julia? Rubbish.
good charlotte- The river
Good Charlotte released their 4th album recently and this song is bangin. Really different for them, atleast to me...I like this direction thier going.- CHECK IT OUT!
its official....
TOB.com: Why have I waited this one out? Because I wanted to make sure I was able to give you guys as much accurate info as possible, so, here we go. I can officially confirm that Britney Spears is in fact going to tour in less than one week at three House of Blues locations in Southern California. I can confirm that this has been an idea that has been in the works many months before Britney entered rehab, but was delayed due to her stint there. The purpose of the tour is for Britney to reconnect with her fans and I am hearing unconfirmed rumors that Britney will have a Q&A with her fans at the end of each show. The show will feature brand new songs from her new album as well as old hits.
Well there you go, too bad I can't fly out to Cali :( BUT THATS FLIPPIN AWESOME! HOPE SOMEONE RECORDS IT...
THIS MEANS SHE REALLY IS COMING BACK ITS FINALLY REALLY HAPPENING?!
also take a look at little seanie boy! he is gettin big!

Still in high spirits...
I'm happy to see him smiling even if he is completely unrecognizable. He also can barely talk. Roger Ebert- the best movie reviewer and most known has been fighting after cancer surgery here is some news :
Ebert plans to be at his film festival
April 25, 2007
Roger Ebert plans to attend his annual festival for overlooked movies this week, returning to public view for the first time since having cancer surgery. The 64-year-old film critic had surgery June 16 to remove a cancerous growth on his salivary gland and emergency surgery July 1 after a blood vessel burst near the site of the operation. In yesterday's Chicago Sun-Times, Ebert wrote that the cancer of the salivary gland had spread to his right lower jaw. A segment of the mandible was removed, and two operations to replace that segment were both unsuccessful. A tracheostomy, which opens an airway through an incision in the windpipe, was done, meaning Ebert cannot speak. "The doctors now plan an approach that does not involve the risk of unplanned bleeding," he wrote. "If all goes well, my speech will be restored." (AP)

VACANCY
(9/10)
You know, I think going to the movies in the day when its not busy is the best way to enjoy a scary movie- cuz there is no annoying people or teenagers to kill the mood!
Ok...
Vacancy was a slick and quick game of cat and mouse. Luke Wilson and Kate Beckinsale star as a soon to be divorced couple who have found themselves stranded in a hotel room that actually happens to have several hidden cameras and is the setting for snuff films (Films that actually show people killed on screen, some sick people get off on that). Once they figure this out, they'll stop at nothing to stay alive til sunrise.
The director, Nimrod Antal is certainly going to have a good career ahead of him because he knows what he is doing. Very symbolic movie and given such a small set to work with he really makes us dive into this maze and become terrified along with our two heros. The opening credits alone are worth the price of admission- some of the coolest I've seen in a long time and the musical score was superb. Though the trailers may lead you to believe that the movie is ultra violent- it really skimps on the gore! There is just enough and you find yourself being scared without being grossed out like more recent thrillers of this kind have been lately.
Beckinsale and Wilson really turn in top-notch performances. Although Kate has played the pissed off wife before and certainly kicked ass in the 'Underworld' flicks, she really captured it and I fell for her. Also, finally - to see Luke Wilson play something other than stupid sibling or boring romantic lead was refreshing- he can totally be an action hero, he was super cool, good job.
Some may argue that the ending was too typical but I really found the whole thing kind of risky and unpredictable. The ending is pretty much good or bad depending on the kind of person you are and the preference you really like. The movie is also an allegory for marital problems haha.
So overall, at a very brisk 85 minutes the movie is worth seeing. Really, what else can you ask for? You don't have a minute to get bored, you're constantly on edge and the atmosphere really grabs the eye. I almost wish I could go on more about this but it really would be giving too much away but I hope word of mouth can spread on this one because I'm not ashamed to say I loved it. The best road thriller since Joyride.
On DVD Today
This was on my top five of 2006.
Helen Mirren won her much deserved oscar for playing The Queen in this fantastic movie. Some might think it would be boring to them but believe me this movie draws you into the story and never lets go. I remember Princess Diana's death but I was not old enough to realize what was really going on and the broken hearts that flooded the castle gates. See a side of the story that will astound you.
YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU

"Old Boy" movie speculated as Va. Tech gunman's inspiration

BAKERSFIELD - Was Virginia Tech gunman Cho Seung-Hui inspired to carry out his massacre in part by an ultra-violent South Korean movie? Some suspect the answer is yes.
As investigators review 28 video clips and the 43 photos Cho sent to NBC before he set out to commit mass murder, comparisons are being drawn between some of Cho’s photos and a popular South Korean film called “Old Boy.”
The award-winning film made in 2003 is about a man unjustly imprisoned who seeks vengeance on those who held him captive.
An ad for the film shows the main character wielding a hammer, and many of Cho’s disturbing self-portraits seem to copy the ads.
Also in “Old Boy,” the character becomes totally alienated from people, so he learns to befriend something else.
The narrator says, “My advice is you make friends with television.”
Cho, too was alienated, without friends, and his final message was sent to a television network—NBC.

black disney princess update.
"Disney's making a movie starring a black princess. And we only had to get through a Native American Princess, an Arab princess, a Chinese princess, even a half-fish princess. Not to mention the countless cats, dogs, mice, elephants, talking cars and....whatever the hell stitch was!"- Senior Black Correspondent- LARRY WILMORE, On The Daily Show with Jon Stewart

u go simon!
thank god someone can put sanjaya in his place. it is getting so old- he needs to go home!
Simon Cowell was still unimpressed with the media phenomenon’s performance and had only two words for him, “Utterly horrendous.” Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, although not as harsh, had no real positive words for the aspiring Idol either. Randy said it reminded him of Karaoke, “That was really karaoke dude. Vocally, it wasn’t good at all. It was very bland and boring,” and Paula thought he just loved the game. “You love adversity. You thrive on it,” she said, giggling.
Whether scripted or not, Ryan Seacrest tried to stick up for the contestant against the wrath of Simon, but ultimately had no substantial argument. Even when he said Simon hates everything Sanjaya does, that was not technically true, considering that Simon did like Sanjaya’s Spanish performance last week.

on DVD today....
Freedom Writers and Notes on a Scandal - both excellent movies- check them out or buy them.
If this is true..I'll crap my pants.
EOnline.com: Britney Spears sure has been spendin' tons of time at Millennium Dance Complex since she got outta rehab (uh, when she's not performing stand-up for X17, that is). Seems B.S. has replaced her constant club hopping with hitting said North Hollywood studio. And she's not just there to burn Cheeto calories and booty-shake her way back into shape. Girlfriend's working on a comeback, and she just might be coming to a city near you.
"She's about to do a small House of Blues tour to perform a few new songs and some old ones," say very well-connected peeps.
I hear she's also hard at work on new choreography and dance moves, natch. But most interesting are the getups she rocks during rehearsals.

DISTURBIA
(7.5/10)
Better than anyone expected and after just seeing the news that the movie is number 1 with over $23 million this weekend, I can say it's nice to know people listened to critics for once. This movie is not bad at all- Shia Lebouf has garnered a fan in me and I'm soon many other people as this movie sort of starts his "Ok I'm real famous now"-trilogy that also includes TRANSFORMERS and the next INDIANA JONES.
The title suits this movie perfect and in the hands of other filmmakers this could of came off having a 'two movies in one feel' since the first half is very light and simple and cute, yes cute. (Except for the shattering opening scene, very reminiscent of The Descent) Kale is a seventeen yr. old who lost his father a year ago in a tragic accident. Check your list now for cliche number one- the dead parent thing has to go! It always seems to be the easy way out on getting the audience to care just a tad more about our hero/heroine.
After Kales spanish teacher says an off color remark about his dead father, Kale lashes out and knocks the teacher out leading him to a 3-month summer house arrest. This aspect of the plot is clever. His boredom leads to neighborhood surveillance and soon Kale and his two friends suspect that their neighbor is a serial killer. The two supporting friends (Sarah Roemer and Aaron Yoo) aren't the worst actors and they do their job to serve the plot but they just come off as one-dimensional through most of the film since Shia's performance is pitch-perfect.
This movie is unusual, there are a couple different genres tangled into one but it works, cliches and all. I can honestly say its one of the better teen thrillers in recent years, substituting blood and gore for mood and substance. Also, the music was very intense and helped enhance the exciting scenes! Sadly, the movie doesn't have much rewatchability- I can see myself coming across it while its on TV and giving it a watch but it lacks scenes that make you feel at home? If that makes any sense.
Also the PG-13 rating will let sensitive movie goers enjoy a nice thriller since there is no excessive gore to sway them away(Think Red Eye). So you won't get disturbed by any means guys but you'll enjoy yourself- so if there is nothing else out there that excites you then see it- otherwise it will be a perfect video movie. It almost makes you wish you had a creepy neighbor you could have fun investigating.
Oh how I love you...
here is britneys sarcasm to the stupid world that doubts her.
the first part was to the fans
Britney: "Hi. Yes first I want to say hey to all of my fans and I can't wait for all my stuff to come out I'm really really excited.
...........................[Sarcasm]
And also I just want to say that I'm just really really shocked at like how nice our world is because it is just so nice... like oh my god. Like the other day like I was sitting there and I saw all these magazines and they said I was pregnant and like it's so true... like America believe everything you read because like you're smart and I'm stupid like for real come on ya'll and then after that like I totally saw also on like the USA today because always believe everything you read that it said I am drinking all the time and like it was like so right it was so true like oh my god it was so right and like my management totally knew what they were doing when they sent me to rehab [gasp] so right you know and like I'm going to cry right now because the world is so nice like this lady told me she said: "Britney... go to the light, go to the light and see Jesus" OK and I was like "oh my god I'm going to do it" and I did and it happened! And it was just so weird, cause our world is so nice."
I LOVVVVVVE HER!

NOTHING!
Sike...um... I actually really want to see DISTURBIA and the review have not been bad so if I get a second to breathe this week I will be venturing off to the theatre.
As for PERFECT STRANGER - I'm so over Halle Berry- it is supposed to be utter garbage- has she made a good movie since she won her oscar?1 (X3 doesnt count).
Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie is out for fans of that... otherwise, nothing special. Bye :)
The Hoax (Richard Gere) and The Namesake (Kal Penn) are playing in limited release and they are supposed to be great flicks.

Remember her?
I've always liked Mandy Moore as a musician in the past, I was real young....maybe because she has never been a threat to Britney...lol but no I also think she is a fine actress (Her Hilary Faye in SAVED goes down in history)
Her new single is on Itunes- it is called "extroadinary" ..well she hasn't changed much from light and fluffy tunes but it does have a different feel to it, kind of acoustic...- lol it kinda sounds like it could be a tv show theme song ..ANYWAY..buy it and support her.

What everyone has been waiting for ...whether they like it or not.
I have been saying atleast it might be a little original and not be like Gus Van Sant's PSYCHO REMAKE..granted it could easily end up on the same shelf and be disregarded as the same garbage BUT hater's dont have a point when they say "But...But..BUT MICHAEL IS SUPPOSED TO BE SUBTLE" Well guess what, he was only subtle in one movie and balls to the wall for six other ones. And I'm sure we'd prefer a reinvention opposed to a scene by scene shot by shot retooling like said other remake. We just can't tell much from a trailer, Halloween is my favorite movie of all time but I've decided to stop whining like a little b*tc* and look at it from all angles and appreciate opinions. We shall see.....
GRINDHOUSE
(8.5/10)
What a treat. I really don't know where to start. You should certainly inform yourself on what this is all about before going in but you also don't want to ruin all the suprises. At a run time of 3 hours, it's not going to be the huge hit they may have hoped but its going to have a nice little following, these directors made this with hard work and love and everyone involved should feel privledged to be giving back to the fans. The double feature, the fake trailers/commercials, cameos, blood, sex, guts, missing reels, witty dialogue- its all here. But have a strong stomach I warn you! I'm goona split the review into two parts since both the films are very very different:
PLANET TERROR - Directed by Robert Rodriguez
This gutsy zombie flick doesn't hold back on anything. It has balls!(No pun intended...) Rose Mcgowan finally declares herself here as not just "The chick who died in the garage door" and stands out among the crowd as the sexy, machine gun for a leg vixen named Cherry Darling. Marley Shelton(Sugar and Spice), James Brolin (The Goonies!), Freddy Rodriguez (Six Feet Under ...or Seth Greens funny friend from Can't Hardly Wait) and an uncredited Bruce Willis also star. A bloody good time, very fast with great action though some of the gore was even too much for me! Cringe Cringe! Also the ending is very satisfying. The cheesy effects and musicprovide tons of laughs and don't miss Stacy "Fergie" Ferguson who has some screen time.
DEATH PROOF- Directed by Quentin Tarantino
Ok this one wasn't as good, simply put BUT it was very different. And by the end I found myself falling really enjoying it but the dull first half cannot be ignored. I can understand why this was chosen as the second movie because after the boom bang wow fest of 'planet' it would be ok to let the audience settle for a little while but if this one began the grindhouse everyone would be falling asleep. Its Tarantino dialogue don't get me wrong but it's not up to par and it's not interesting but you have to give him props for always writing females as never vulnerable and more badass than not. Kurt Russell plays a psychopath(or is he just a pussy?)
who likes to track down women and kill them with his car as a weapon instead of a gun, knife, MACHETE(haha..)..anywho Rent babes Rosario Dawson and Tracie Thoms give some fun performances but Zoe or whatever (Uma Thurmans real life stunt double), her accent bothered me but of course I was in love with her by the end. I won't give much away- stick out the first half hour and you'll be in for a treat, maybe the slowness of the beginning is what helped made the end more impactful. The final 20 minutes are soooo gripping and fun!
Anyway, if your going to see this- see it in the theatre because there is no way that people will sit down and watch this is in one sitting while its on video(to be honest, rewatchability isn't one of Grindhouses virtues) because its just an experience or a ride if you will so go enjoy it if it sounds like something you'd have fun with but if you'd rather spend your three hours elsewhere just because you don't 'get it' then ..do that.

attention dirty dancing fans
the movie will be shown on screens across the nation on may 1st and 2nd for the films 20th anniversary, whether you like the movie or not ya gotta admit that its pretty cool. more movies should do that more often! esp for the younger fans of dirty dancing though that werent old enough or alive to see it in the theatre, they can go live that.
find out info at www.fathomevents.com
Yes, I think it looks good.
DISTURBIA (love that title if only it makes me think of SUSPIRIA) on first glance seems very typical, which it may be, but there is something about the trailer that leaves you wanting more. And the PG-13 rating reminds me of a time when movies like The Ring or The Others can still give a nice jolt and scare without having to glorify tons of violence over substance (Hmm...Saw Fans). Though I shouldn't quite be referencing horror movies because this is more a thriller 'rear-window'-style. I also admire Shia Lebouf for his career has really took off at the age of 20. Something I know myself and other actors at this age envy. So we'll see how this ends up but just wanted to clarify that I'm not bashing this movie ...yet!
BLADES OF GLORY
(7/10)
The formula is getting played out, the "Throw Will Ferell into anything premise" but hey guess what guys? It still works, but what makes these movies work is that there are always side characters who sometimes steal scenes or stand out just as much as our beloved Ferell. Especially in Blades of Glory, where Jon Heder nearly has just as much screentime, having a fresh face leaves us never fed up with Ferell's antics. The premise is simple- The two play rivals in the ice skating business and end up tying for the gold metal which leads them to an immature, seen by all fight that ends up getting them thrown out of the industry forever. Nearly four years later they pull a Velma/Roxie type thing (anyone? anyone?) and the pair end up finding success in teaming as a duo! Thier archrivals, played by Amy Poehler (Always a good presence, always underused) and some other guy that looks like he is from SNL but isn't..maybe he is?--anyway, yeah so their fun little villains who have an innocent sister who ends up trying to help Heder and Ferells characters. She is played by the cute and scrumptious Jenna Fisher (The Office). All in all, the jokes were hit and miss- mainly giving you a chuckle while I can count atleast two or three times that I really busted out laughing and hey nowadays, even that's a treat. I think this movie could of really benefited from a decent soundtrack- there was a few good songs but nothing great, studios forget how the perfect song/s can simply make or break a movie. So there isn't much to say on recommending these anymore- you know if your the kind of person who enjoys these but personally I preferred the NASCAR Ricky Bobby action.

VOLVER ON DVD NOW
Please check out this movie. I can't emphasize enough how great it is- dark, hilarious and filled with emotion- it stays with you. If you fear foreign films, don't! Because you are missing out on a whole other world of cinema. Oh and let's not forget Penelope Cruz in her best performance to date- oscar nomination wasn't for nothing oh and she's super hot.
NEW MUSIC
Ah so refreshing! The only 2007 album that I'm super stoked for besides Britney of course is LINKIN PARK. Their new single dropped yesterday on Itunes and it's a treat for the fans that have waited a long time. The album comes out May 15th- Please check it out!
Also, Timbalands collaborative album "shock value" came out recently and besides "Give it to me" which we all know is a hot jam, there is a fun duet with JT called "Release" that is worth a download.
