BLADES OF GLORY
(7/10)
The formula is getting played out, the "Throw Will Ferell into anything premise" but hey guess what guys? It still works, but what makes these movies work is that there are always side characters who sometimes steal scenes or stand out just as much as our beloved Ferell. Especially in Blades of Glory, where Jon Heder nearly has just as much screentime, having a fresh face leaves us never fed up with Ferell's antics. The premise is simple- The two play rivals in the ice skating business and end up tying for the gold metal which leads them to an immature, seen by all fight that ends up getting them thrown out of the industry forever. Nearly four years later they pull a Velma/Roxie type thing (anyone? anyone?) and the pair end up finding success in teaming as a duo! Thier archrivals, played by Amy Poehler (Always a good presence, always underused) and some other guy that looks like he is from SNL but isn't..maybe he is?--anyway, yeah so their fun little villains who have an innocent sister who ends up trying to help Heder and Ferells characters. She is played by the cute and scrumptious Jenna Fisher (The Office). All in all, the jokes were hit and miss- mainly giving you a chuckle while I can count atleast two or three times that I really busted out laughing and hey nowadays, even that's a treat. I think this movie could of really benefited from a decent soundtrack- there was a few good songs but nothing great, studios forget how the perfect song/s can simply make or break a movie. So there isn't much to say on recommending these anymore- you know if your the kind of person who enjoys these but personally I preferred the NASCAR Ricky Bobby action.
